The Parish of Forster-Tuncurry conducts wedding services in various Parish churches.
Do I need to be an Anglican to be married in the Anglican Church?
No, but at least one person must be baptised. You will be married according to the Rites and Ceremonies of the Anglican Church and the officiant will be the Rector, or Assistant Minister, of the Parish.
In the Anglican Diocese of Newcastle, brides will not be asked to “submit” or “obey”.
What documents are required?
You will need full birth certificates for both the bride and groom. If you’ve been married before, then you will also need to provide a divorce, or death, certificate. You will also need to provide a baptism certificate.
What happens when we meet with the Minister?
Together with the Minister you will: fill in the Notice of Intended Marriage form (which must be completed at least 30 days prior to your wedding); discuss the order of service; discuss your family and friends’ participation; and discuss any other practical arrangements such as the Wedding Rehearsal, photographers, and so on.
What else is involved in the Marriage preparation?
There is an ONLINE marriage preparation course called PREPARE which you will both undertake. The aim of this course is to reveal the strengths, and areas of improvement, of your relationship so that you are better prepared for your marriage commitment.
What costs are involved?
There is a fee of $500.00 for all centres. This includes an organist fee, the Minister’s fee and a small donation towards the maintenance of the church buildings.
